10 Most Anticipated Rock And Metal Albums Of 2017
5. Wear Your Wounds
Something for people who like their music more challenging and with a visceral bite, it’s the long-awaited album from Converge frontman Jacob Bannon. While best known for his throat-shredding hardcore band, Wear Your Wounds is an entirely different beast, focussing on his passion for psychedelia, post-rock and folk music. But don’t let that last term fool you, this isn’t Mumford And Sons.
Titled WYW and due for release on April 7 via Bannon’s own Deathwish Records label, it’s taken 12 years for this record to finally see the light of day and includes various luminaries from the alternative music spectrum, with members of The Red Chord, Trap Them, Hatebreed and Converge lending their artistry to one of the most mind-mangling records of the year.
Taking cues from the likes of Pink Floyd and Nick Cave, it’s not an album to stick on at a party, but a journey you need to take alone. And if you’re lucky enough to be at this year’s Roadburn festival in The Netherlands, Wear Your Wounds will be making their live debut for what is sure to be a spiritual experience.
