10 Most Controversial Songs In Rock History

2. Cop Killer - Body Count

Most music aficionados are familiar with the term of one hit wonder. Even though these guys might have been able to notch up a hit onto the charts, they ended up sinking like a stone when it came to try and make the magic happen a second time. In the case of Body Count though, they feel more like one controversy wonders than anything else off the strength of Cop Killer.

Though Ice-T certainly doesn't need to defend his hard edged credentials, the entire buzz around Body Count's biggest hit was just how blunt honest it was about it's hatred towards the police. Granted, this was recorded in the post Rodney King world, where the people of California were getting more and more distrustful of the law enforcement that was supposed to be employed to protect them.

Hell, for all of the comparisons to metal and hip hop music coming from each side, there's almost something punk rock about this delivery, as Ice puts his neck on the line and says what he thinks needs to be said regardless of whether he will end up eating his words later. Still, when you have a song like Cop Killer in your arsenal, you're not exactly aiming to be a band for the children or anything. No, this is war on the streets if it were set to music.
