10 Most Depressing Music Videos Of The 21st Century

5. The A-Team - Ed Sheeran

This is one of those music videos that depresses you from the very first frame and then refuses to let go. The first shot sees someone mourning for her young lady friend who lays dead before her, before transitioning to a period of time a short time earlier to show us how this all occurred.

The focus here flows to the difficulties of life on the streets, as the young lady attempts to scrap a living any way she can. Ed makes an appearance, purchasing a Big Issue from her before sitting alongside her for a little bit of company. The final act of the video displays her final demise, her prostitution allowing for the purchase of drugs from which she will overdose.

The black and white cinematography works excellently here in creating a gloomy atmosphere that befits the young girl's circumstances, ensuring that we are very much aware that there is no chance of escape for the young lady. The video also infers that the possibility of turning your life around if you are homeless and/or suffering a drug addiction is minimal, another final kick in the guts for the audience.

With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
