Taylor Swift has already established herself as one of the most interesting musicians going today. Whereas most artists are sticking by their rootsy material, Swift is one of the only in-demand pop stars who can still light up the charts, with a career that spans country, folk, pop, and even throwback '80s tunes. Her colossal 1989 album was already seen as a creative watermark, but no one imagined how quickly she would fall afterward.

No stranger to controversy, "Look What You Made Me Do" saw Swift trying to play up her tabloid self from an antagonistic angle, but the song itself is all style over substance. You can hear a bit of that signature magic on the verses, as the keys and synthesizers build up, but once you think something awesome is about to come through, we get one of the laziest choruses Swift has ever written, with a syllabic structure that is ripped right out of "I'm Too Sexy."

Reputation was already meant to be a challenging listen for Swift fans, but this song just feels like Swift coaxing off name recognition, as evidenced by the many different versions of herself from the past sprinkled throughout this video. Taylor may have gotten back to familiar territory with Lover and Folklore, but diehard fans have already wiped their hands of this era of pop's greatest star.
