10 Most Disturbing Hard Rock Songs Ever Released

9. Sleep - My Chemical Romance

For as much scorn as My Chemical Romance may have gotten in the early '00s, they had proved they were much more than style with the Black Parade. Centered around the death of a cancer patient, the entire album takes you on a journey and has been heralded as one of the greatest concept albums of the modern age. The whole record is a blast, but a story structured around death was bound to get dark sooner or later.

While most of the album showed the Patient burning bridges with everyone he's met in his life, "Sleep" is something more violent and disturbed than many would have thought. At this point, our anti-hero is fessing up to all of the horrible crimes he has committed, and doesn't feel bad about a single one of them. Before any of his friends or family try to talk him into redemption, he shuts his eyes and begins to sleep.

However, as he continues to doze off, the chorus builds, almost as if this is the moment where he will never wake up. As the outro grows ever louder, you can't even hear his family screaming "Wake Up!" because of how chaotic this man's mind has become. The Patient may not have been the greatest person in the land of the living, but this one track turned him into a complete monster once he reached the afterlife.
