3. Cephalotripsy - Intracranial Butchery
Who in the Hell?:
Cephalotripsy, named after the surgical procedure that crushes the head of a foetus in the womb in order to effect delivery, are a San Diego band who have been active since 2003 (save for a hiatus between 2012-2017). Their style of death metal encompasses the slam and brutal sub-genres, and their lyrics emphasise abstract gore and the macabre.
Sinister Sounds:
Drum work that sounds like machine gun fire on a line of dissidents, combined with distorted and strung-out guitars. The vocals are a cross between a fit of burping and a straw slurping at the last remnants of a drink.
Publishable Lyrics:
"Perforating the brain of my victim / Removal of the cerebrum / Dissecting the lobes as they ooze foul liquid / Colation of desired cranial segments / For the sole purpose of consumption / Lobotomy turned cephalic feast."
Censored Storyline:
An amateur Neurosurgeon plunders into the skull of an unwilling victim. However, the intentions are culinary rather than curative. If devouring a brain wasn't bad enough, the grey matter diner vomits up his gory meal and decides to make it his second course. Grim on many levels.
