10 Most Dramatic Band Splits In Music History
3. Oasis
Ever since the 90's, Oasis always seemed like a band that could spontaneously combust at any moment. From the word go, the rocky relationship between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher led to many public arguments of both verbal and physical abuse. With all the contention, the brothers would always get over it...right?
Though the band had a pretty consistent track record of fantastic rock and roll in the 2000's, the relationship between Noel and Liam had reached new levels of hostility. At the end of the tour for 2009's Dig Out Your Soul, the two had a fight and cancelled a gig in Paris minutes before it was about to go on. What ensued backstage involved Liam becoming erratic, as he proceeded to tell off journalists, swing Noel's guitar, and eventually threw a plum against the wall.
Noel then retreated to the tour bus to cool off, but then came to the conclusion that he could longer stand working in a band with his brother anymore. Hours after they were supposed to go on, Noel issued a statement that he was quitting Oasis, leaving the gig unfinished and the British music scene heartbroken. Even if the Gallaghers' separation has yet to be mended, the music the group created will be sure to live forever.
