Just as the relationship between Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen became a bigger story than the Sex Pistols themselves, so too did the destructive relationship between Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love almost overshadow the incredible music being produced. The recently released documentary, Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck, provides a fascinating insight into this enigmatic star, drawing on diary entries and old home movie footage to reveal a man torn between his music and his addiction to heroin, brought about by a desperation to alleviate the constant pain he experienced on account of persistent stomach ulcers. Eventually the pain became too much and Cobain famously ended his own life with a shotgun. Perhaps inevitably it didn't take long before investigators started suspecting foul play - there are certainly enough inconsistencies and pieces of evidence to warrant such speculation, although the truth will probably never be known.
