10 Most Exciting Rock Music Albums Still To Come In 2023
1. I/O - Peter Gabriel
The Gaslight Anthem might have kept people waiting nine years for a new album, but that's nothing on how long Peter Gabriel has promising something.
The former Genesis man first spoke about the album i/o back in 2002 as a potential follow-up to his record, Up. He supposedly had 130 songs in development that could have made the cut, so surely it wouldn't take long for this new album to materialise, right?
Right?
Well, it's been over twenty years, and here we are.
What's really annoying is that Gabriel has released two albums since then, the most recent being 2011's New Blood. Now, after many many years of waiting, i/o might finally be happening.
On January 6th 2023, the single Panopticom was released. Gabriel announced that this was the first track from i/o and that a new song would be released with every full moon. Because of course he did.
This is set to culminate in the record's release at the end of the year, bringing to an end one of the most drawn-out sagas in modern rock history.
To be fair, he did take some time off to look after his sick wife, so maybe he deserves some slack.
Maybe.
