10 Most Exciting Rock Music Albums Still To Come In 2023
2. History Books - The Gaslight Anthem
Following the end of their tour to promote their 2014 album, Get Hurt, New Jersey outfit The Gaslight Anthem announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus.
Despite a couple of reunions, there was no sign that the group would be getting back together full time. That all changed in March of 2022, when they announced via Instagram that they were back.
People were trepidatious at first - they have the word "gaslight" in their name, for crying out loud - but it looks like this comeback is genuine, as the band's sixth studio album, History Books, has been given an October 27th release date.
In an interview in 2022, lead singer Brian Fallon said that the COVID-19 pandemic influenced his decision to reform the band, as it made him realise that life was too short to miss out on doing certain things. He also cited the death of Taylor Hawkins as inspiration to not take things for granted.
With two very good singles already out there in the world, the future is looking very bright indeed for a band that a lot of people have sorely missed.
Welcome back.
