5. Screamin’ At The Sky - Black Stone Cherry
If you're a fan of old school Southern rock and you somehow haven't heard of Black Stone Cherry, then brother, you've been missing out on some good music.
Hailing from the heart of Kentucky, this group took the sounds of Lynyrd Skynyrd and such and turned them up to eleven, adding some hard rock spice to the country-drenched tunes of their forebears.
Black Stone Cherry really hit their stride with their third album, Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea, before going on to score two back-to-back toppers on the US Hard Rock charts. Their most recent effort, The Human Condition, actually failed to make an impression, which came as a big surprise.
Hopefully, their new album, Screamin' at the Sky, will change things.
Scheduled for a September 29th opening, Screamin' at the Sky has already yielded some results, as the single Nervous became their highest-charting in two years.
Though they're a little off from their songwriting peak, there's still a lot to like about Black Stone Cherry, so hopefully the good faith already generated by this album translates to some tasty sales figures.
