10 Most Expensive Music Videos Ever Made

8. 'Cartoon Heroes' - Aqua

Cost: $3.5m ($5.3m with inflation)

Release: 2000

It says everything that Aqua's ninth major single is the best on the list so far. Maybe that's $3.5m well spent then?

Radio stations began playing 'Cartoon Heroes' on New Year's Day in 2000, and that infectious Scandinavian pop beat is still catchy 20 years on. Honestly, just try to avoid bopping along when the chorus kicks in on this one. It's nigh-on impossible, but don't let that distract you from the quasi-Fifth Element vibes of the video.

There's not much more to say about Aqua other than they knew how to put together quirky Euro-Pop anthems that had fun, teeny-bopper vids. 'Barbie Girl' and 'Doctor Jones' were bangers in the late-90s, and this was every bit as inoffensive.

René Dif's strained vocal delivery might make you want to cough though.
