10 Most Expensive Music Videos Ever Made

5. 'Estranged' - Guns N' Roses

Cost: $5m ($7m with inflation)

Release: 1993

Fans who adored the videos for Guns N' Roses tracks like 'Don't Cry' and 'November Rain' would've been foaming at the mouth to see 'Estranged'. It was the third part in director Andy Morahan's trilogy of epics from both 'Use Your Illusion' albums.

Straightforward, concert-focused 'Welcome To The Jungle' simplicity this isn't.

There is live footage (mainly shot on our at Munich's Olympiastadion), but the sweeping emotional narrative Morahan had explored in earlier vids pins everything down yet again. Everything added up and the song's MTV accompaniment ended up costing five million smackers. That's roughly the same amount as the band's hairspray bill.

Those who liked 'November Rain' will appreciate the long solos from Slash and the ballad qualities to 'Estranged'. Those who didn't and are more into the group's earlier works, will wonder why Guns N' Roses kept trying to become a cross between Aerosmith and rock opera.
