10 Most Expensive Music Videos Ever Made

4. 'Bedtime Story' - Madonna

Cost: $5m ($8.3m with inflation)

Release: 1995

Strap in for some Madge.

There's some classic Madonna to come, but 1995's 'Bedtime Story' isn't it. By that point, the former queen of pop had been sucked in by the era's obsession with hi-hats. They're all over the place in this song, just as pseudo-spiritual themes and dated CGI pops up everywhere in the video.

'Bedtime Story' is a prime example of how much (or how little) graphical know-how one could get for $5m in '95. The video tumbles awkwardly like the menu screen to a PSOne demo disc; speaking of which, the instrumental part of the track could pass for something from PlayStation hidden gem Music.

It's insane to think that this, adjusted for inflation, would cost $8.3m today. Obviously, the special effects would be better, but yes - Madonna was pushing it with this occasionally-electro-but-occasionally-directionless tripe.
