10 Most Hated Classic Rock Albums (From Great Bands)

8. David Bowie - David Bowie

David Bowie is most likely one of the most prolific musicians of the classic rock era. Not many other artists can boast such a long line of classic albums, from the glam rock Ziggy Stardust years to the cold and calculated greatness of his Berlin Trilogy. All the greatness of Bowie can be traced back to his first record Space Oddity...or at least that's what David would have preferred.

Everyone tends to see Major Tom's trek as Bowie's starting point, but the real beginning of the Thin White Duke's career begins here, with songs that have more in common with baroque pop. Bowie's music often feels like it's coming from a different world, but some of these songs tend to feel like theme songs for 60's British TV shows that never got made. The fact that this debut came out the same day as the Beatles' Sgt Peppers also did it no favors.

There are some highlights though, with "Please Mr. Gravedigger" giving the album an ominous end, which Bowie would go on to define on later albums. This isn't gonna replace your copy of Ziggy Stardust anytime soon, but it's still a noble first step from a musician destined to become a giant.
