10 Most Hated Classic Rock Albums (From Great Bands)

2. The Weirdness - Iggy And The Stooges

Fans of punk rock were psyched out of their minds in the 2000's when it was announced that the Stooges were to make music again. After almost 30 years without their trademark ferocity, the world was finally gonna get a fresh taste from rock's most primal band. Then again, be careful what you wish for.

The band's initial choice of Steve Albini as a producer made sense, given his pedigree with hardcore punk and more alternative acts like the Pixies and Nirvana. Most of the band feel like they're on auto-pilot, while Iggy himself sounds like he's on the edge of a mental breakdown (and not in a good way.) Instead of marveling at his fury, this type of music made fans genuinely concerned about the man's sanity. Albini's harsh production would normally fit a band like this perfectly, but the actual material he has to work with makes it feel more like a chaotic mess than an anarchistic art piece.

Many of the fans of the band's early work lined up to bash this record, with some even refusing to acknowledge it as a part of the band's discography. The stars seemed to be aligned for the band to conquer at first, but The Weirdness seems to be an album that no Stooges fan likes to talk about.
