10 Most Hated Hard Rock Bands Of All Time
7. Puddle Of Mudd
During the post-Nirvana era, many bands were coming forward trying to build off the more brooding style that Cobain and co. had been known for. While we saw great forms of this with bands like Days of the New, Puddle of Mudd stands as one of the biggest casualties of the genre.
Despite the numerous lineup changes in the band, the main focus of this outfit is vocalist Wes Scantlin, whose delivery is something ripped straight out of a bad 90's cover band. Instead of having that gutteral shout that singers like Eddie Vedder and Cobain used so spectacularly, Scantlin's voice is too nasally focused to be taken seriously. The band's first forays saw them garner some pretty decent rock hits like "Control" and "Blurry," but other songs like "She Hates Me" went right into corny territory from the minute they hit your eardrums.
Up until recently, Scantlin has also made a name for himself thanks to his offstage behavior, which involves countless DUI arrests and even refusing to play and cancelling minutes into his performance. As of late, Scantlin has thankfully been on the road to recovery, but it's up for debate as to whether it will reflect on his music career or not.
