10 Most Hated Hard Rock Bands Of All Time
3. KISS
Regardless of their music, KISS was a band that you couldn't take your eyes off of when they hit it big. From the platform boots to the face makeup to the unbelievable stage show, the group had the hard rock world at their feet throughout the late 70's.
Even with the millions of antics throughout their shows, the band was poised to get hate right from the moment the first bombs went off. Though most of the band's early period is beyond great, most of the actual compositions don't stray too far from your typical rock riffing. It was still really good hard rock, but the euphoria did seem to have an expiration date, with the band catering almost exclusively to adolescents.
As the band went on, the music almost took a backseat to the stage show and more outspoken shenanigans from Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Simmons has admitted as much about being outspoken about his beliefs, but that doesn't necessarily get you off the hook when the actual musical side suffers for it. That being said, while some may be saying "Good Riddance" after the band's final tour, you can't deny the band have set the bar for every major stage performer to come out since. The music may sound plain, but all that venom fades away when they hit the stage.
