10 Most Hated Hard Rock Songs (From Great Bands)

8. Breadline - Megadeth

Megadeth hit the ground running at the start of the 90's. After planting the seeds for thrash with albums like Peace Sells, the band brought their songwriting to a whole new level on albums like Rust In Peace and Countdown to Extinction. As the decade went on though, fans got a little suspicious with the band's direction.

With the more poppy sounds of 1997's Cryptic Writings, the band started to show a more commercial side of themselves that didn't seem to fit them too well. By the time the band dropped Risk, fans were left wondering what happened to the thrash metal titans who tore our heads off with every track. Out of all the tracks on the album, "Breadline" is probably the most non-Megadeth song they have ever written, with a chorus that sounds like it should be playing over an edgy cereal commercial rather than in a metal tune.

While it's understandable that Dave Mustaine wanted to go in a commercial direction like his former bandmates in Metallica, the actual execution has sparked terror in metalheads for all the wrong reasons. It's good for bands to reach for new ideas, but this slice of 90's cheese would even have Vic Rattlehead face-palming.
