10 Most Hated Hard Rock Songs (From Great Bands)
3. Turbo Lover - Judas Priest
Judas Priest are the reason why heavy metal exists today. While bands like Black Sabbath get credit as being the originators of metal, it was Priest who truly made it their own with their riff-based sonic assaults and the denim and leather look that became the unofficial metal uniform. Then again, even the Metal Gods aren't necessarily infallible.
As the band were coming out of the 70's, they proved to be the ideal voice for metal on 1983's Screaming for Vengeance. However, the more power pop side of the band led them down some very dark roads, which resulted in the album Turbo in 1986. While many of the tracks on the album could have made this list, "Turbo Lover" stands as the prime offender. With its crunchy guitar and dark groove, it's probably the only thing that qualifies as hard rock on the album, with the rest of the album taking the cues from the glam sound of the day.
The song is probably not the worst that the album has to offer, but the true crime is that it sonically lies to you. The dark groove could trick you into thinking this record is going to be decent, but you'll find out very quickly that you've been fooled into listening to a glam rock album in heavy metal clothing.
