10 Most Hilariously Bad Albums Ever Made
9. Danzig Sings Elvis - Danzig
On paper, the idea of Glenn Danzig singing Elvis tunes should be one of the easiest executions in the world. After all, Danzig was always known for his bellowing croon reminiscent of the King back in the Misfit days, so why should this be any different? Time can do a whole lot to your vocal cords though, and this covers album shows Glenn far past his prime.
It's not like Danzig had that much of a high bar to clear on this album either, considering most of these songs cover ballads that are not necessarily reaching to the levels of Jailhouse Rock or Hound Dog. What we are left with is a husk of a crooner calling himself Danzig, as Glenn struggles to even come anywhere close to the melody, while the backing track pathetically plods along behind him.
Speaking of the backing band, the instruments almost seem deliberately suppressed in the mix, with Glenn's warbly croon wacking you over the head every time it gets the chance. Yeah, cause when you have a performance that sounds like this, that's what you want your audience to pay attention to, right? For as much as this might have been made as a tribute to the King, this kind of Elvis karaoke is on the wrong side of Graceland's good fortune.
