10 Most Iconic Music Albums Turning 50 In 2023

1. Dark Side Of The Moon – Pink Floyd

When talking about the most iconic albums of all time, it would be downright insane not to mention the masterpiece that is Dark Side of the Moon. Even if you cannot name a single Pink Floyd song (not possible), you will undoubtedly have seen this iconic album cover plastered all over t-shirts and posters, and with good reason.

Pink Floyd's eighth studio album, released in March 1973, Dark Side of the Moon was conceived as a concept album, building on ideas explored in previous records; corporate greed, conflict, time and death, themes which still have relevancy today. This certified 14-times platinum album has not only sold over 45 million copies worldwide - making it the best selling album of the '70s - but also propelled Floyd into the stratosphere of true rock stardom forever, with the act hailed by many to be one of the most influential bands in music history.

Celebrating Dark Side of the Moon's 50th anniversary earlier this year, a deluxe boxset was released that includes CDs, Blu-ray remastered stereo versions, and an LP of Pink Floyd live at Wembley Empire Pool, London in 1974.
