10 Most Infamous People In Rock Music History

8. Don Henley - Eagles

Ever since the Eagles emerged onto the scene, their music was always about letting go of all your troubles. Despite being the bane of the Dude’s existence, every one of the Eagles’ songs is meant to be a little snapshot of California sunshine, no matter which member is singing. In terms of how friendly they are though, you might want to steer clear of the golden throat behind the drumkit.

After writing some of the best songs of the Eagles’ career on Best of My Love and Desperado, Don Henley has looked more like a sinister figure now that we know what went down behind the scenes. As the band was riding high on Hotel California, there’s an infamous episode where they told guitarist Don Felder he could sing one of the songs, only to convince one of their managers to take him out to dinner while they redid it behind his back.

Though that could have just been bad blood at the time, it got a little more ugly when the reunion came up, as Felder would get paid far less than the rest of his bandmates for every show. That eye on the dollar seems to have only grown in stature in the age of the Internet, with Don rarely letting people use his music on YouTube and flagging those that even try to demonstrate how to play some of the Eagles’ greatest hits. You may be trying to preserve your finances here, Don, but not having your music available is actually killing your legacy as well.
