10 Most Infamous Tracks In Rock N Roll

6. The End - The Doors

When the Doors came onto the LA scene in the mid-60's, their blend of rock, jazz, and blues was incredibly unique for the time. However, most rockers were not prepared for the dark mystique of Jim Morrison's words when the band first started to perform "The End."

Far from being a typical pop affair, this track is loosely based around a single chord and various noodling from the band as Morrison details a love song of doom. Even if it may seem tame at first, the tone doesn't stay simple for long as Morrison goes on to mention more violent imagery. The song then climaxes into an Oedipal complex in which the singer wants to become his mother's lover and kill his father.

This song alone earned the band notoriety overnight for its use of profanity as well as what many believed to be anarchistic behavior. Once the Oedipus section was performed for the first time, the Doors were thrown out of the establishment and banned from the premises. As time passes, "The End" has been used in various forms of media like Apocalypse Now to show the true decline of humankind and an apocalyptic comment on the Love Generation of the 1960's.
