10 Most Infamous Tracks In Rock N Roll
5. Iowa - Slipknot
Slipknot's Iowa has been known as one of the heaviest records to come out of the 2000's, and for good reason. In just over 1 unholy hour, the 9 took some of the most feral sounds they could muster and transferred them onto tape to create the most savage assault of metal the world has ever known.
Of all the brutal cuts to be found on this record, the title track was the tune that took the most out of singer Corey Taylor. As the singer was tracking the song, he had conversations with the producer as to how to record this ode to being alone with a corpse. Wanting a more maniacal delivery, Taylor stripped naked in the studio and recorded the vocals while cutting himself with various glass fragments found in the studio. After two takes, Taylor was laid out on the studio floor bloodied and vomiting.
Once the band saw the amount of torture Taylor put into his performance, there was truly no going back from the pure sonic blitzkrieg they had started. There had certainly been heavy acts before Slipknot, but no band was more willing to put themselves on the line for their craft as much as this band of misfits.
