10 Most Influential Rock Bands

6. Radiohead

The 90's were a time where every band seemed to be immersed in irony and singing alt-rock diatribes to find their musical salvation. In the crossfire, Radiohead were hidden amongst their alternative counterparts and became one of the most intriguing rock bands of the modern age.

While the band have fantastic alt-rock chops across albums like The Bends, the band's use of effects co-mingling with guitars resulted in the masterpiece Ok Computer. Even in the face of absolute success, the band kept their musical integrity and experimented even more with each release from the synthetic Kid A to the ambient terror of A Moon Shaped Pool.

In terms of production, the band proved that being in a successful rock band didn't have to be confined to guitar-driven music, with songs employing everything from tape loops to ambient backing tracks. The band's lyrics were also a great departure, with songs that tackled man's relationship with one another and the desire to break free from modern existence. After Radiohead's domination, the rock world had no more confines, with new artists free to follow their muse to put out the best tunes that they could.
