10 Most Innovative Rock Acts Of The 2010s

8. FOALS

Since the release of their first album in 2008, FOALS haven't taken their foot off the pedal.

They're constantly pushing their particular brand of progressive dance-rock in ever more engaging directions. In much the same way that Kasabian blended dance and hip-hop melodies with indie rock, Foals have found a way of blending an experimental form of new-wave dance music with hard rock hooks.

These guys haven't had a bad record in years. Their sound is very much their own but far from becoming derivative, they've found a way to keep coming up with more intricate sounds that evolve throughout their albums.

When many mainstream rock bands have moved into a more synth heavy brand of pop rock, these guys have continued to keep the heavy chord riffs at the forefront of their music. But despite the heavy guitar aesthetic, their music shares more with electronic dance music than it does with classic rock.

With melodies you can't help but bust a move too and heavy drops that wouldn't be out of place at a rave, Foals are keeping rock music fresh, progressive and full of energy.
