10 Most Legendary Horrible Gigs In Rock Music History
5. Oasis At Wembley Stadium
It was a long road for Oasis coming back from their shakeup in the late '90s. After losing Bonehead and Guigsy from their lineup, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was supposed to be the moment where they rose back to the heights that they saw in the days of What's the Story Morning Glory, capping off with a handful of performances at Wembley Stadium. Everything seemed to be in place for Oasis' return, only for Liam Gallagher's personal life to turn to shambles a few days before he took to the stage.
Having already been going through a messy separation from Patsy Kensit, Liam had relapsed on drugs in the hours leading up to the performance, before deciding to sabotage the entire set. Going through every single song, Liam made it a point to never sing any of the lyrics properly, either changing them or not singing them at all so they wouldn't be usable for the television broadcast or the live album Familiar to Millions.
Though Noel had already had his own problems and had left the band for a spell leading up to this gig, you can tell that he's trying his best to hold it together here, especially through the instrumental passages where Liam decides to call out his wife directly, as well as making comments about everything from the people who paid to see him to his vocal coaches who insisted that he used lemon before he goes onstage. While no one in Oasis has fond memories of this gig, this did teach Liam a valuable lesson: never get loaded before you go onstage.
