10 Most Over-Hated Rock Albums Of All Time

8. X - Def Leppard

After the massive success of Hysteria, Def Leppard had a pretty difficult time reestablishing their footing. While they did pretty well on the follow up Adrenalize, the 90's went on with questionable results on the alternative tinged Slang?. The band's return to form at the end of the decade with Euphoria put them back on top, but X is heralded as the straw that broke the camel's back.

In an attempt to hold on to their chart success, this record is one of the poppiest efforts of the band's career. Def Leppard's greatest work always had a bit of a glittery edge to it, but these songs had such a sheen that you could barely hear anything related to rock. All of these descriptions probably spell disaster, but the album is not nearly as dire once you dive in.

Yes, the guitars are not nearly as prominent as the band's previous output, but the songs are pretty decent as far as 2000's pop goes. The draw of songs like "Torn To Shreds" and "Now" is still the band's trademark vocal delivery and hooks that will keep the songs sticking with you for days on end. This might be far from the Def Leppard that you may have wanted, but for a pop crossover this is a pretty noble effort from the 80's giants.
