10 Most Over-Hated Rock Albums Of All Time
7. The 2nd Law - Muse
Muse have been known as one of the most talented power trios of the modern age. With each passing record, the band seemed to be getting better and better as they explored everything from hard rock to prog to even space rock in places. Though fans were following the band down every musical rabbit hole, most jumped ship around the time of the 2nd Law.
While the band had dabbled in electronic music on previous outings, the lead single "Madness" had most fans worried sick about what the new record was going to be. Once a two part title track came out with dubstep sections, most fans quickly ignored the record and went into more hard rocking territory.
The hardcore fans may have braced for impact, but the actual album we ended up getting had a lot more bright spots than you probably expected. "Supremacy" and "Survival" are great lofty tracks which show the band's Queen level of gravitas, while the band also mix up their styles with the Chris Wolstenholme fronted "Save Me" and "Liquid State." Even the track "Follow Me" shows the perfect balance of rock force and electronic enhancements. This record may not be the band's finest hour, but their use of other styles was a welcome change of pace from the group's usual soundscapes.
