10 Most Overrated Metal Bands Of All Time
9. Pantera
Right now you can practically hear the pitchforks sharpening from the metal community. How dare someone even consider putting a band like Pantera on this list, an act who single handedly changed the game for the entire genre in the '90s?
It's not like those arguments are unfounded...we just can't act like all of these people are necessarily angels though.
First off, Dimebag Darrell is one of the greatest guitarists of all time who's style is probably never going to be replicated by anyone any time soon. At the same time, some of the less than stellar moments in their discography have definitely started to show their age over time.
Sure, songs like Primal Concrete Sledge are still amazing to listen to, but it almost feels like the metal world has to defend Pantera every single time Phil Anselmo opens his mouth.
Yeah, it's pretty much unavoidable to talk about Anselmo's reputation as a harsh dude, with him making very questionable decisions in the press like threatening Dimebag a few months before his death and casually making racist signs in the past few years.
Once you hear those one too many times, you start to look at a song like Walk a little differently. Because there's a fine line between being the metal bulldog and just a vicious bully looking for attention.
