5. Warrant
Towards the end of the '80s, the entire hair metal movement was starting to get absolutely ridiculous. Even though some of the greatest bands of the genre like Motley Crue and Def Leppard were still pumping out quality material, you can't help but look at the new school of hair metal acts to know that something was going terribly wrong. While Metallica showed their disdain by throwing darts at a Winger poster in one of their videos, the worst of the genre has to go to Warrant.
Off of the back of some of the most mindless songs of the decade, Warrant never really seemed like they belonged in the category of metal at all. I mean, when you really think about it, does the first image that comes to your mind when thinking of the heaviest genre imaginable a bunch of dudes in white leotards talking about how heaven isn't so far away?
Granted, if they were considered just your average pop rock band, these guys probably would have been fairly decent, only to be sent floating down the river a few months later once the alternative revolution kicked in. We're stuck with them in the metal genre though, and it made for one of the more embarrassing blips on the Sunset Strip's radar. Hair metal started off so well, but this is what it sounds like when it's bleeding out.
