10 Most Popular ANTI-Rockstars

9. Roger Waters - Pink Floyd

In terms of the greatest acts of the '70s, Pink Floyd may have been one of the most enigmatic rock bands in history. Although their iteration with Syd Barrett was certainly interesting in the late '60s, the headtrips across albums like Wish You Were Here and The Dark Side of the Moon have become modern classics regardless of radio play or not. While you could definitely call these guys rock stars, Roger Waters is the one member actively spiteful of his title.

Compared to the other over the top rockers of his day, Waters seemed to make it his mission to call out the artificiality of the rock and roll dream. Whereas Dark Side of the Moon only hinted at some heavier material, albums like Wish You Were Here are a scathing critique of what the rock star life can do to a person, being both a tribute to Barrett and a denouncement of consumerism on tracks like Welcome to the Machine.

That was just the tip of the iceberg though, with the Wall becoming the grand opus for Waters, as he painted the life of a traveling musician as much more isolating than anyone would have ever imagined. Instead of having his face across every album, Roger Waters practically holds a mirror up to any aspiring rocker and asked them "Do you really want this?."
