10 Most Savage Rock And Metal Diss Tracks Of All Time
1. Sexy Sadie - The Beatles
Of all the bands to appear on a list like this though, it almost hurts to see the Beatles getting salty as the years go on. Before any of their business deals started to go down the toilet, they were already at each other's throats and eventually turned to making diss tracks at each other after leaving, with John Lennon dissing Paul McCartney and vice versa. After finishing their meditation experience in India though, John's anger was directed to his former guru on Sexy Sadie.
Contrary to the title, this was actually written about the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who was the spiritual advisor for the group during a retreat to India shortly before the White Album. As the weeks went on though, things started to unravel pretty quickly, with the Maharishi getting called out for living larger than the rest and even making a couple of passes at some of the female students.
If you believe Beatles lore though, it's probably for the best that John went with Sexy Sadie instead of the original title of Maharishi, where he really laid into his former teacher with some very choice language. While George Harrison eventually convinced him to change the lyrics, the message still rang true on the final version, asking the titular Sadie who the hell she thinks she is for doing something like this. The Fab Four have definitely given the world more than its fair share of uplifting music, but on that rare occasion, John definitely earned the nickname of the Salty Beatle as well.
