2. I'll Stick Around - Foo Fighters
99% of the music that comes out of every Foo Fighters records seems to be coming from a happy place. Hell, when Dave Grohl was just making songs in his garage on the first Foos album, it was all about trying to make himself feel better after losing Kurt Cobain just a few months before. There was definitely a lot of hope on that first record, but Dave hadn't forgotten some of those harsh emotions either.
In between songs like Big Me, I'll Stick Around is your typical Foo Fighters song, with a punk edge to it and a huge shout along chorus about not owing this person anything. While they're never namechecked in this song, these cynical lyrics are directed at one specific person, who had already played a big part in the Nirvana story. As the years have gone on, many have suspected that this song is about Courtney Love driving a wedge between Nirvana's members, which Dave has not denied once since he wrote it.
For all the times that he claims that he was stitching lyrics together in the studio on that first record, there was a lot of passive aggression in this song as well, saying that getting famous was all a part of Love's plan and how Dave seems to be the only one thinking that all of her crazy antics are rehearsed. Considering how much he tears into her on this song, this song is practically a warm up for the superficial side of life on Stacked Actors, only with a clear target in mind this time.
