10 Most Savage Rock And Metal Diss Tracks Of All Time

9. Fairies Wear Boots - Black Sabbath

When Black Sabbath were first making the rounds in the clubs, their unique brand of rock and roll wasn't exactly met with open arms from day one. Since the entire concept of heavy metal was just being born, you had audiences that either felt cheated because they wanted to hear the blues or scared off because they weren't ready for this kind of darkness. While the original metalheads knew what was going on, Ozzy Osbourne didn't have too many friends in the punk scene of Birmingham.

Around the time that they were cutting Paranoid, Ozzy ended up getting jumped by a bunch of skinheads, who were known for wearing heavy Dr. Marten boots when they stamped on the Prince of Darkness. Looking to get back at them in a small way, the original concept behind Fairies Wear Boots was for Ozzy to just recount the entire story while painting these self proclaiming badasses as fairies.

That concept didn't end up taking them very far though, with Geezer Butler filling out the rest of the lyrics with a recount of him going to the doctor and being told that he smokes too much. In hindsight, that might have been a blessing in disguise, with Ozzy probably being in for another beating if he continued to smack talk these punks up on stage. Because in this song, there is only one kind of fairy, and those little pixies have their heads shaved and will stomp anyone that gets in their way.
