10 Most Savage Rock And Metal Diss Tracks Of All Time
4. Death On Two Legs - Queen
Throughout every era of Queen's tenure, Freddie Mercury always remained the true professional of the group. Ever the gentleman, Freddie was keen to keep the positive vibes flowing whenever the band took to the stage, even when the savage press started to breathe down his neck. He can deal with a few bad reviews here and there, but things start to turn a corner when you start to mess with the man's earnings.
After coming off an enormous success with the single Killer Queen, the band found out they were broke going into the recording of a Night at the Opera, with their former manager making off with most of their earnings. Although they were on safer ground with someone else operating their finances, Freddie was not ready to let it go just yet, opening up their next album seething with anger about his former business partners, damning them for taking all his money and having the guts to ask for more.
Compared to the upbeat tone that comes in many Queen songs, it's jarring to see such a salty subject matter play out with the backing track, as Freddie asks this business shark whether the fin on his back was part of their original business deal. There are only a few instances where you get to see the nasty side of Freddie Mercury, and it appears that one of them comes when you start to mess with his finances.
