3. Paranoid Android - Radiohead
Around the time that Thom Yorke started completing songs for OK Computer, he was starting to get a bit desensitized to the idea of fame. After living most of the past year in a tour bus supporting the Bends, the constant interaction with thousands of fans was starting to get to this guy who was always fairly introverted. That negative energy has to come out somewhere, and Paranoid Android's lyrics were the result of the last straw he faced after witnessing a scuffle at a bar.
When traveling through America, Thom found himself going in for a drink before an all out brawl ensued, which all started when a girl took major offense to someone accidentally spilling a drink on her. While Thom made it through the melee in one piece without fighting anyone, he couldn't shake the feeling that he got from the people he was with, watching them devolve to their most primal instincts when they were wasted.
As the voices of them stuck in his head, Thom took this multi part song as a chance to deconstruct just what happened that night in his mind, all while questioning whether he was being too paranoid or if there was something wrong going on there. In this case, no one is off the hook, telling everyone if they could stop the noise in his head and calling the girl a "kicking, screaming, Gucci little piggy." It may have just been a little scuffle, but that meant more to Thom. This was normal people turning into animals right in front of his eyes.
