10 Most Underrated AC/DC Songs
7. Riff Raff - Powerage
The album Powerage has always had a bit of a mixed reception amongst hard rock fans. While there were only a few modest hits from this record, it has achieved cult status amongst the heavier rock crowd, giving them some of the most slamming licks of the band's early days. Though people tend to remember stuff like Rock n Roll Damnation from this record, it pales in comparison to the almighty Riff Raff.
From the word go, there is no holds barred when it comes to this song, as the guitars crash in like a buzzsaw as soon as the track starts. Even though he lets the music do the talking, this kind of playing style is a testament to Angus Young's policy of "don't tickle the strings...HIT THE BUGGERS." While Angus may be the star of the show most of the time, this track actually is a testament to his brother Malcolm's role in the group, finding just the right level of rhythmic control and bravado to make a riff really jump out at you.
Even though this is not one of the knock-down drag-out AC/DC cuts, this is an example of a track that proceeds to grow on you the more and more you listen to. Definitely worth revisiting if you haven't in a while.
