10 Most Underrated AC/DC Songs
5. Demon Fire - Power Up
No one could have blamed AC/DC if they wanted to call it quits towards the end of the 2010's. With the departure of Brian Johnson and Phil Rudd as well as the passing of Malcolm Young, many were worried that these Aussies were becoming a shell of what they once were. Then again, AC/DC is the one group who knows how to take tragedy and turn it into rocket fuel.
Across its runtime, Power Up is exactly what you'd expect from AC/DC, with some fresh new ideas being brought to the forefront. On the other hand, there's a surefire classic in Demon Fire, which sounds like it could have come off one of their classic albums. Though Malcolm was responsible for most of the classic AC/DC licks, we see Angus fully inhabiting the role of his older brother, bleeding every chord for all that it's worth.
Brian also sounds reinvigorated on this record after nearly losing his hearing during the last few tours. It's almost as if he had taken all of the frustration he had to go through when he couldn't tour and channeled it into his delivery, coming through with some of the more swaggering vocal lines of his career. AC/DC already have their legacy secure at this point, and yet songs like this remind us precisely why their music excited us when we first started to listen to rock music.
