10 Most Underrated AC/DC Songs

4. Stiff Upper Lip - Stiff Upper Lip

AC/DC always seemed to have one foot trailing back into the blues. Despite the mountains of attitude they brought to every single one of their songs, the riffs pouring out of the Young brothers' amplifiers had a deep connection all the way back to the lowdown and dirty tunes every aspiring rock musician starts with. Then again, it was only a matter of time before they went whole hog on an honest-to-God blues cut.

From the first few lines, you can tell that Stiff Upper Lip has a bit of a different attitude going for it. While Brian Johnson still has that gravelly voice that we know and love him for, the tempo and riff is much slower and (*gasp*) cleaner than what you are used to. Words like slow and subdued don't really belong in the same area code as AC/DC, but this song is a great flex for the group in terms of dynamics.

Just when you think that this is going to be the rest of the song, Johnson leads you back to familiar territory on the chorus, with one of the more impassioned deliveries he's had since The Razor's Edge. Though it may have seemed weird to start with a bluesy bar band sound, it makes the payoff in the chorus feel all the more deserved once you get there. While AC/DC have a very distinct formula for themselves, this kind of tune shows that blues is still a good look on them.
