10 Most Underrated Aerosmith Songs

9. No Surprize - Night In The Ruts

Night in the Ruts tends to be looked at as the album where Aerosmith started to go downhill pretty fast. Given that guitarist Joe Perry was already halfway out the door and the rest of the band were strung out on drugs, the slapped together delivery of these songs feel less like they were labors of love and more just...y'know...labors. Even though it's tragic to see these Bad Boys sink so low, it did have a pretty great start.

Being one of the few songs on the album to feature Perry in full, No Surprize feels like a throwback to the glory days of the band, where they were mining their trademark boogie just for the hell of it. There's a reason why this song sounds like a throwback too, given that it was a leftover from the first batch of the songs they started kicking around.

Written shortly after their legendary performance at Max's Kansas City, Steven Tyler gives us a synopsis of the entire night, down to the legendary Clive Davis proclaiming that the singer is going to be a superstar. None of the goodwill could save the video though, with Perry AWOL and being replaced by Jimmy Crespo miming his parts. While the rest of the group may have been on life support at this point, it was fun to at least reminisce about the good old days for a little while.
