Obaro Ejimiwe is one of the brightest spots in British music in recent time. Under the name Ghostpoet, he manages to blur the line between electro and hip-hop and his slurred, hazy vocal delivery manages to capture a certain mood that he utilizes to great effect in his brief yet interesting career to date. His debut album Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam received a nomination for the Mercury Music Award only to lose out to the equally magnificent Let England Shake by P.J Harvey and since then the British singer has released two brilliant albums and shows no sign of stopping. His latest 2015 release Shedding Skin exemplifies what a diverse musician he is, utilizing a studio band to further enhance his musical explorations most notably on the moody title track and the heart-wrenching 'X Marks The Spot' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OmtRTqeW2s He is still yet to connect with a large audience outside of Britain but time should prove that Ghostpoet has a universal message buried beneath the scattered and atmospheric soundscapes he beautifully conjures up.
