10 Most Underrated Band Members
3. Krist Novoselic - Nirvana
It's a bit of an understatement to say that Nirvana changed the rock and roll scene in the 90's. Once "Smells Like Teen Spirit" hit the airwaves, hair metal was killed in one fell swoop and alternative rock was now the order of the day. Though Kurt Cobain is now seen as the godfather of modern rock and Dave Grohl has reinvented himself with the Foo Fighters, Krist Novoselic seems to get sorely overlooked in the band's legend.
With Novoselic picking up the guitar first, his transition over to the four-string never seemed to slow him down when it came to coming up with unforgettable riffs. Even on more softer material like "Polly" or "All Apologies," Krist's bass gave just the right amount of sonic pulse to these tracks. While there have been some great bass moments like on "Lounge Act" and "Love Buzz," the attention tends to shy away from what might be the most interesting parts of the band's tracks.
Novoselic has earned his spot up their with the rock bass legends, but the fact that he isn't as big a rockstar as his other bandmates tends to give him a disadvantage. Still, Novoselic out of the equation would leave the greatest band of the 90's without a leg to stand on.
