10 Most Underrated Beatles Songs
5. I've Just Seen a Face - Help!
Of all the genres that the Beatles pulled from, country music was never really the standout in their repertoire. Even though they covered people like Buck Owens back in the day, there's nothing from the band's early catalog that brings to mind people like George Jones or Johnny Cash in the minds of fans. And yet when they decided to put that country bounce into things, it turned into one of the most infectious songs of their mid period.
Though most of the actual Help! movie is a little bit strange, the back half of the record gave us I've Just Seen a Face, with every member on acoustic guitars behind Ringo's drums. When writing the song, Paul had always liked the rapid fire vocal delivery of the track, having it always pull you to the next line with every verse, which is very true if you ever try to sing along with it.
This is also one of the few times where the American/British album differences actually helped a song get more exposure. Even with the more expanding sounds on Rubber Soul, this actually replaced Drive My Car as the first track on the album in the States, which gave the whole album a bit more of a folksy feel. So if you need some Beatles material around a campfire and don't want to use Hey Jude for the 900th time, this will be a definite change of pace.
