10 Most Underrated Beatles Songs
4. Two Of Us - Let It Be
Considering the disastrous sessions for the White Album, the idea of the band getting back to their roots at least seemed like a good idea on paper. Though most of them ended up disagreeing and started to work outside of the Beatles' mold, the album Let It Be at least gave us some gems to salvage after Abbey Road. From the opening track alone, it felt like this back to basics approach could have actually worked.
Out of all the songs on Let It Be, Two of Us feels the most homemade, with Paul just playing acoustic guitar alongside John like they used to do in the early days. Despite the song allegedly being written about Paul's relationship with Linda, it's easy to think of John and Paul when they sing about two people riding nowhere and going back to where they started.
Combined with the Everly Brothers style harmonies that come in on the chorus, this gives us a glimpse back to the lovable lads from Liverpool who were just trying to make it as rock and rollers before Beatlemania had really set in. At this point, we know that most of Let It Be wasn't able to be salvaged into a complete album. If more songs were able to sound like this though, we may have gotten a more coherent record to close off their career.
