10 Most Underrated Blink 182 Songs
7. Heaven - Nine
There tend to be two different factions of the Blink fanbase that have come out as of late. Either you're on the side of the new lineup taking a few more chances, or you're not willing to see any more new material from them as long as Tom isn't behind the wheel. Even with our alien man being AWOL for the past few years, things have definitely been looking up with songs like this.
In fact, this is probably one of the most sobering songs that this version of the group ever wrote. For a pop punk band, you'd probably think this song's about something like teen romance or going up against authority? Afraid not, kids...you get victims of a shooting. Instead of the usual fun loving topics, this song is an anthem dedicated to those who lost their lives during the mass shootings that have cropped up at concert events over the past few years.
What's even more impressive is how well this works in context, especially when Mark takes over vocal duties from the perspective of one of the victims and wondering if heaven even wants him. Blink-182's music tends to bring up a lot of nostalgia for the early pop punk kids, but every so often, you also have those songs that can make you tear up a little bit.
