10 Most Underrated Blink 182 Songs
6. When I Was Young - Dogs Eating Dogs
Out of all the material in the Blink catalog, the Dogs Eating Dogs EP tends to be a bit of a forgotten gem. Though people are probably not going to seek out something that's barely 20 minutes long, this at least provided a snack for hardcore fans as to what Blink would be doing later down the line. While moments like Yelawolf's verse might not be as classic as you remember, it sure kicked off with a bang.
Following the same mood that they had been laying down back on Neighborhoods, When I Was Young feels even more spacey than before, as if Tom has finally found a way to incorporate his Angels and Airwaves sound into the group. Starting with the volume swells off the guitars, this entire song is a lot more lofty than anything else on Neighborhoods, even going into the realm of arena rock when you hit the chorus, with Mark and Tom trading off different lines.
This is also a fairly underrated track for Travis' drumming, which is a lot more inventive and plays around with the groove a little more than he would on your typical pop punk affair. Since this turned out so well, no one could have predicted that this version of Blink was about to come to a screeching halt yet again.
