10 Most Underrated Eminem Songs

7. Soldier - The Eminem Show

As the '00s rolled around, Eminem had become the voice of the next agitated generation of music fans. Once he sealed the deal with the Marshall Mathers LP, he was free to do whatever he wanted on The Eminem Show, which he sculpted almost like a combination of rap and rock music. It may have been a little too ambitious for its own good, but when it shined, we got diamonds like Soldier.

Any rapper prides themselves on writing a "respect the hustle" song, and this is where Em flaunts his more extravagant infatuation with guns. While most higher-ups would point out one's tendency towards violence based on their gun assortment, we get a more in depth look on here, where Marshall takes us behind the curtain to see the lack of security he feels when at the top of the rap food chain.

Instead of the typical tongue in cheek violent songs, the beat on this song is deadly serious, sounding like it could be the backdrop to a war montage. This would eventually culminate into Say Goodbye Hollywood in the context of the album, but when taken on its own, Soldier shows that even when Eminem seemed invincible, he wasn't afraid to put his fears out in the open.
