10 Most Underrated Female Rock Bands Of All Time
5. The Donnas
The '90s were one of the glorious years for girl punk. Outside of Courtney Love and Alanis Morrissette becoming the voice of their respective generations with albums like Live Through This and Jagged Little Pill, the door was beginning to open for fresh blood to leave their mark on the scene. Although the Donnas never made it past a handful of hits, their back catalog is still some decent punk rock for its day.
If you know anything about the Donnas though, it's probably for the song Take It Off, which was a mainstay of VH1 and soundtracked many a Guitar Hero game in its time. Looking past their big hit, there are a lot more savage entries in their catalog, even back in the early days when they were independent and releasing some of the most caustic punk rock to come out of California.
These aren't just some industry creations either. These gals were signed to Lookout! Records for the longest time and were playing the same clubs that people like the Offspring and Green Day played when they were starting out. Although the average rock fan probably doesn't know The Donnas outside of just one or two songs, they're missing out on one of the best kept secrets in all of punk rock.
